Obituary for Helen M. Rengert (Mangold)

Helen Kathryn Rengert
(Mangold)

Avon - Fairport June 6, 2021 at age 106. She is survived by her son Philip (Kimberly) Rengert of Avon; granddaughter, Heidi (Jacob) Hauslauer; several nieces and nephews.

Helen was born on December 20, 1914. She grew up in Erie, PA. She completed a 4 year degree in Business at Villa Maria College (now named Gannon). She lived in New York City when WW2 ended and remembered being let off work early on VJ day when crowds gathered in the streets to celebrate the end of the war. After the war, she moved to Rochester, NY to work for Kodak, this is where she met her husband Joseph Rengert who predeceased her in 1967. She is also predeceased by her parents, Fred and Clara Gunther Mangold; brother Walter R. Mangold of Erie, PA; sister, Mary F. Servis of Webster, NY.

Helen loved big band music, dancing, gardening, drawing, sewing, and later in life she traveled all through the US and visited Italy with the Catholic Women's Club. She was an avid reader and loved her daily reading of the wall street journal to keep up on politics and financial news. She played piano, sang in church and worked many years for Catholic charities in her parish. She was a pillar in our family, very strong and determined. Of course, she was also mom to Phil & I and grandma to Heidi.

She was much loved and we were so blessed to have had her for so many years.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Agnes Cemetery, Avon. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.
